AMS Kart Club Technical

AMS Kart Club Technical Aspects.

All teams racing in the NatSKA championship must confirm to the NatSKA regulations. The really impress thing is, how our members work with them and how they learn from such a young age, about the physics and basic mechanics involved, that leads them to a formative and advanced understanding of real world applications.

The kart and you.

Adding fuel, pumping up the tyres and checking the engine works are what most would perceive to be the very basics of making a kart work.  This is certainly the case for driving around a local car park, hoping the local police don’t tap your shoulder.  However, there is more, so much more in fact that, by the time you are actually prepared to take part, your mechanical knowledge will have escalated significantly.

Karts are machines, AMS Kart Club karts are racing machines which compete against others, while being operated by young people.  Young people are more than capable of racing them, but their technical understanding and education comes from the team, its members and the parents.

Being a member of AMS Kart Club means you get the support, it means people are their to help you when you are in need, it means you are part of something a little more than just a parent and kid out driving around.

AMS enable members to take responsibility of the equipment they race.  Karts can be taken home and prepared in the comfort of your own garage, with your own tools, all the while in the knowledge of a team member being able to advice or help if asked.

The diagram here shows a small part of the NatSKA Handbook regulations, it demonstrates the importance of the rear bumper structure, which not only helps provide a safe impact area at the rear, but also helps prevent wheel contact.

The expert in you.

There are very few true experts in the karting world, with so many elements, both technical and physical, its more about a determination to enjoy what you are doing that creates the understand you need to be ‘successful’.  Many measure success on the trophy size, which is a great way to show the world how fast you are, but there are many competitors throughout motorsport who simply don’t finish races, so that’s our first stage of success.

Over the course of your time with AMS Kart Club, we’ll work on the ‘expert’ inside you, helping with maintenance, kart safety, general race day running checks and race craft from the fence. Our aim is to help you work autonomously so you can impart your experience and knowledge on the new members coming through the club.

The engineer.

We understand that AMS Kart Club and NatSKA attract engineers, race enthusiasts and professionals in motorsport and AMS have the privilege to list several names who have moved on in the world of motorsport, engineering and business, all successful and still reflect on their time in the club.

If you consider yourself to be advanced in karting, engineering or other motorsport disciplines, we encourage you as much as we do others, to join AMS. Your contribution to the club, team and other less experienced individuals, will enable them to enjoy AMS the way you did, and most likely more. Please don’t underestimate the positive impact you could have.

NatSKA regulations.

The National Association for School and Youth Group Karting (NatSKA), is the organisation which sets the regulations within which we follow and agree to, in order for AMS to compete with others throughout the UK.

You can download a copy of the current handbook here – NatSKA Handbook and Regulations.

The regulations are available from www.natska.co.uk and are issued to all to ensure compliance, safety and a competitive environment is created for all.  The handbook covers all aspects from the running of meetings, through the clothing, helmets and equipment needed, and of course the technical aspects of all classes within the NatSKA championship.
