Over 40 years of enabling young people experience the motorsport in an affordable, safe, and vocationally beneficial way.
AMS Kart Club members race through the UK, at circuits used by the major British and international championships, all renowned for their technical demands, speed, and safety. Racing under the National Schools Karting Association means AMS must conform to MSA safety regulations, the same organisation which is responsible for overseeing all top categories of motorsport in the UK.
Our drivers.
The team consists of drivers between the age of 8 and 18, racing in categories based on age and equipment performance. All are monitored through novice categories, before being issued with their race license, which ensures they understand the flags, their conduct on and off the circuit and their ability to compete against others. A race to competency comes before a race to the trophy at AMS.
Our karts.
AMS Kart Club provide equipment which can be rented per race in the relevant categories. The kart and engine issued is them maintained by the driver, parents/guardians, or helpers at home. Its their responsibility to take it to and from the circuit, which ensures the driver is given the appropriate support from their family and AMS.
Track side.
Once at the circuit, you will find a team of people who are willing to help and advice you through the race event. These people have been in the same situation as every new member. Some are inexperienced, others are engineers, and a few who have many years’ experience in karting and other motorsport disciplines. This helps make AMS a unique environment to help people enter the sport of kart racing, unlike other methods and championships.
Beyond…
An understated benefit of AMS, is what comes after the racing. Many ex-members of AMS have moved on to be very successful in their chosen careers. There are several reasons for this, the obvious is an understanding of the mechanical world, how basic physics convert into something meaningful. The less obvious are character forming attributes, in determination, enthusiasm, commitment, desire to succeed, solution development and the realisation of self-competence.
Of course, some just can not shake the racing bug and continue to race, like the AMS Driver Development Coach, Jordan Brown, here in his 125cc racing in the Super 4 series.
